I have a 7.1 setup. Just watched Two Towers and selected DTS-ES as the audio setup on the DVD.

The 950 sets itself properly as DTS-ES but I get no sound from the back two speakers unless I add Cirrus Extra Surround on the 950.

Am I doing something wrong ?

Did it detect the DTS-ES and then run in DTS 5.1 mode perhaps? I don't remember at the moment how the DTS-ES flags work -- if it changes the mode automatically or not. If the display said DTS-ES the whole time (not just the moment when it acquired the signal), then you can ignore this, but if it reverted to "DTS" afterward you'd need to push the "DTS" button on the 950's remote a time or two to put it in the right mode.

Did that help at all?

As it turns out everything works fine. I just didn't wait long enough not realizing that there will not always be sound in the rear speakers for dts-es or dolby ex.

Thanks
