I bought this Pioneer universal player recently, and am disappointed with the bass output, and overall output from the analog section, especially on SACD and DVDA.
From what I've ready here and on other forums, it sounds like this problem is not unique to the 578A player. Hopefully I don't have a defective player.
Is anyone using an ICBM with this player? Has it helped? I don't have any experience with Outlaw products, and I figure it could be worth a try.
Thanks.

Particularly at the price point of the 578A, manufacturers have often short-changed or simply abandoned bass management for the high resolution audio formats. I haven't used an ICBM, but everybody I've seen use one with a DVD-Audio or SACD player has been extremely satisfied with the results. The ICBM is specifically designed to take care of bass management for players like the 578A.

I recently had the opportunity to experience the ICBM. A friend is running a Denon 2910 universal player through one to an Onkyo receiver feeding a multi-channel Rocket speaker setup. The sound is great! Bass is done perfectly. I too have a Pioneer 563a running through my Outlaw 1050. I need an ICBM for proper SACD/DVD-A playback as well, I am just financially blocked!

Oh, my friend got his B-stock.

Thank you for the quick replies. Maybe I will pick one B-stock and give it a try.

I have a 578a and selection of DVD Audio and SACD's. The recordings vary greatly from one to the next. I just added an active trim level to the LFE and turn it up or down and I am happy this way. But, my speakers are all full range, so I don't need to adjust the bass on them and thus don't need the ICBM.

I'm using the 578A with the 950 and just rewired my system for stereo subs.

Now I discovered that when you tell the 578A that you have no sub, it doesn't re-route LFE content to the front speakers (so that I could actually hear it), it just doesn't send it anywhere!

Would an ICBM, placed between the 578A and the 950, allow me to mix LFE from the 578A onto the left and right front speakers for the 950?

I just ordered an ICBM. When I get it connected to my 578a and tweeked, I'll post a review here.

Gonna pull the trigger on an ICBM myself for use between the 578 and 950. I understand from the manual that it will add the LFE and low frequency content to the mains.
