Hi, first post. Looking forward to purchasing some outlaw product. Looking at the 976 and either the 5000 or the 7700. I know that this is a large jump in price, question is I am more concerned with audio quality for 2 channel. I am ok with the 5000 for movies. Appreciate thoughts or suggestions

Either will do the job. Do you want the extra two channels and the added weight of the 7700. The specs on the 5000 are very good and the cost savings could allow you more budget for other gear. I would get the 5000 and if I needed any more channels at some point get two 2200 amps.

You definitely want to consider what you need now and what you envision needing in the future. If you don't anticipate needing more than five channels, go with the 5000. The 7140 might be a good fit if you want a little more power (though the 20 wpc likely wouldn't be that noticeable) or think that you'll need those extra two channels in the future.

You'll likely keep the amp for many years more than anything else in your system, except maybe your speakers. Pick the one that should benefit you the most in the long run. The 7700 would be a great amp and provide tons of power, but if you don't need it for your space, I'd go with the 5000 or the 7140.

Thank you for the suggestions! Make sense, think I will stick with the 5000!

Will the 976 pair well with my 7700?

I’m happy with the 976/7700 combination. I use XLR differential interconnections.

So I can’t do 7.1 with my 7700?
