Probably needed for the file system to be stored so it can read future updates. It might not be accessible to the users.

Outlaw has in the past made the 230V/50hz version of the 2150 in very limited quantities. Maybe they will do the same for the 2160. I hope they chime in because I'd be happy to wait if that's the plan. Anyone know anything about he headphone amp section as power and ohm etc.

We just never know what the Outlaws will do, that's why they are Outlaws. After taking a look at the manual it appears the 2160 will be able to use any standard headphone setup. The main volume control is used to determine output so I believe there will be plenty of available SPL. No real specs for the headphone amp although it probably shares the main amp section somehow.

Cool... I ask about headphones because I have a pair of AKG's that are hard to drive and plan to pick up a pair of HD650's. I've heard a good headphone amps makes a big difference. The one I have now isn't suffice. Anyway, I wish outlaw would chime in at the possibility of supports 240v/50hz.

In doing some research in the older 2150 threads it appears that the 2150 was adapted to 120/240 volt but not 50hz. Sorry for the confusion.

At this time, I am not aware of any plans for the European market or any locations running on ~220-240v. In regards to headphones, because the headphone output utilizes a negative feedback loop it is very hard to provide specifications; realistically though, if it was anything over 100 ohms, I would consider an external headphone amp.

Thanks Ben. Great product and would love to buy it. Adcom and D-Sonic have given me papers on how to modify their amplifiers for 240/50, but I understand that's highly unusual etc. Again, thanks for the response and good luck with the 2160.

I was reading up on the 2160 manual and this piece looks sweet. All the features can be adjusted via remote without ever touching it. I wasn't considering a two channel before, but this may change my mind. Just have to convince my better half and find somewhere to put it. Internet radio has my immediate interest. But, the ability to create a playlist with a flash drive is another thing luring me in. There's also DLNA. So I like the idea of using my phone as a remote to choose music, as an alternative to creating a playlist. I didn't have the 2150, but my friend has one and that is a great sounding receiver. The 2160 must be right up there with SQ. Also, I like that the display can be turned off or dimmed. Years ago I had a Marantz receiver, one of the ones with the gyro tuning wheel. That was a great sounding piece. This 2160 should make anyone forget reminiscing about those older model receivers.

Ben, thanks for the input. Couple questions - to the Headphone out - is it the same as the 2150? I actually use the 2150 with my hd650s. Not too bad. And will the usb input recognize a smartphone?

It is a similar design, yes. I believe the HD650s are 300 ohms but very efficient. If the RR2150 provides enough output for you, then the RR2160 would as well.
The USB-A inputs are intended for thumb-drives. Smartphones can connect to the unit via DLNA.
