You're welcome Hank. I've been around here a very long time too, and wanted to update from my original 950. I waited and waited and waited on the 978, then I finally broke down and got the 975 and hate almost everything about it. I actually put it back in the box and used the 950 for the last couple of years.

I finally started looking around after giving up on waiting on the newest processor and no information from Outlaw.

I was not interested in room correction, but after getting the Marantz 8802A all I can say is WOW! Audyssey is so easy to set up my wife could do it, it sets up all your speakers and subs and alters the sound including the room itself. It measures speaker distances, sets delay, sets phase, levels, everything very simple and automatic. I set up my 7.2 system better than it has ever been (particularly my dual subs) in less than 15 minutes, no tape measure or SPL meter needed.

legivens, I actually auditioned a KRELL Foundation 4k. The thing is VERY expensive but it was such a nightmare to set up so I sent it back. Folks kept telling me over and over to check out the 8802A and I'm glad I did. Simple to set up, all kinds of flexibility. I love being able to talk to it with an iPad or web interface, and I love the display and ALL the available inputs. I'm not sure if I want Dolby Atmos but it is nice to have that capability.

The sound is very open and clean, perhaps a tad on the warm side, which I like. Also, the surround channels never sounded so clear and individually defined. If you can get it at discount, that is a good deal. The 8801 was a Stereophile "A" list processor, and everyone universally says the 8802A sounds much better.

I'm very happy with it, and expect to have it for quite a while.
