I think my 1050 died during a storm. Any hope?

I was using my 1050 until 3 weeks ago, then the morning after a storm blew through, it stopped working. I had it hooked up to a Monster power conditioner, but apparently that wasn't enough to save it. Until then, it worked flawlessly in my 6.1 configuration since the day I purchased it circa 2001.
The morning it was out, the yellow power indicator light was on until I unplugged the 1050. It hasn't come back on since.
I already checked the fuse, which seems to be intact.
I followed advice of others and left it unplugged for for a few days, but got nothing when attempting to turn it back on. Then I unplugged it while I went out of town for two weeks, and still nothing upon my return.
I reluctantly ordered a Marantz SR5007 to replace it, as the pre-outs may allow me to finally commit to a separate amp. However, I'm hoping to salvage the 1050 to give to my sister. Anyone have any other ideas that may work? Or alternatively, has anyone sent a 1050 in for repair and can give me an idea what it would cost or would I be better off tossing it?

Search the threads but there have been a few 1050 repairs done by Outlaw at a very reasonable cost of like $75 plus shipping.

I had my 1050 repaired once maybe... three or four years ago? Outlaw was very prompt with the repairs and while I don't recall the exact dollar value, it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared when I sent it in. I want to say it was in the neighborhood of that $75.00 figure XenonMan pointed out above.

$75 doesn't seem too bad, if that is what they end up quoting me, but the shipping is a killer. UPS wants $50 to ship, so (assuming it is the same each way) that means a total cost of ~$175, which is pretty high for a 10 year old receiver. I'm not sure it is worth it.

Sounds like you need to see if the 1050 floats or send it to me and I will check it out. Any chance a good repair shop is in your local area?

Don't overlook potentially untapped job perks. I was lucky and able to ship mine really cheap using my employer's FedEx account. We get an amazing rate because we ship so much product with them. Is that an option for you?

I own my company, but we evidently don't ship enough through FedEx to get a good rate. I'm going to open it up myself to see if there is something obvious to fix (not very likely given my limited skills), then I'll try to find someone local. It's been a while since I needed an electronics repair guy, given that most electronics we buy nowadays is cheaply made junk. I personally think the 1050 is of good enough quality to be worth repairing, but I just can't justify spending more than about $100 to do so given how many good receivers are on the market today for less than $600, and almost all of those have HDMI switching - a critical feature for a modern receiver.
