should i leave my outlaw 70705/970 combo on standby, or turn them off completely using my monster power center 3500. do they use a lot of power on standby?

I'd leave them in standby - that's how they are intended to be used. Besides, in standby, the 970 consumes less than 2W (one-thirtieth of a 60W bulb) and the 7075's not going to be much different.
