I think the "automatic ON" referred to in the manual is the remote trigger feature. I do not remember the 7500 having an input sensing circuit.

My trigger wire is hooked up from the 990 to the 7500...both units are powered (physically switched off) off (I would assume this is standby mode-both units power plugs are plugged into surge protector...both lights on units are orange; (1)I turn the 990 on with my remote, (2) the 990 powers on, blue light comes on, relay clicks, 1-4 seconds later, 7500 relay clicks, blue light comes on...
When I shut 990 off with remote, both units go into standby....orange lights on...
That's the way it works on my units....
fwiw, my 990 and 7500 are setup and behave the same.... Rob

Thanks guys. I did some more testing, this time with a MP3 player jacked into one of the RCA inputs on the amp to be sure if the amp was on or off. The trigger will turn the amp on the first time but after that it won't shut off again. Even though the trigger was causing a clicking noise in the amp, the music from the player was still being amplified through a speaker, and the front light remained blue.
I don't know if this is an issue with the 7500 or the PR-SC5509 processor not sending the correct signals. How do the 12v triggers work, is it one pulse each for on or off, or a continuous voltage for on / no voltage for off?
(Edit): I should add that if I started with the amp switched off (orange light) then plugged in the 12v cable and turned on the processor - nothing would happen. If (after turning the pro back off) I then pressed the amp power switch the amp would stay off with a orange light. Turning the pro on at that point would turn on the amp (blue light). From that point the amp won't turn off, even by pressing the power switch. I have to disconnect the cable then press it to get it to go back to orange.

Make sure you are using a 3.5mm mono mini-plug on each end like the manual states. If not, the trigger function won't work. The Processor is designed to output a DC voltage when demanded to the slave unit (7500). The demand usually is created when the processor starts. If I remember correctly the 7500 has to be in the "go" mode and then you connect the trigger cable. You could cycle the main switch on the back and then press the on/off switch on the front to see if the circuit is acting in reverse. Make sure the 5509 does not have some trigger setting that needs adjustment in the menu. I am not familiar with the 5509 so I am grasping at straws here. Try connecting a 12 volt DC source to the 7500 and see if it triggers correctly. Once the processor comes on the 7500 should click and then the orange light will turn to blue. Ready to go. When all this is done contact Outlaw. Scott will fix you up.

I did some troubleshooting yesterday with Scott. It's looking like I have a faulty board in my amp. I'm waiting to hear back from him to hear what the plan is.

Scott sent me a new board and I swapped it out myself. The trigger function is now working correctly. Of course I would have preferred not to receive a defective amp, but given the situation this is a satisfactory result.
