Dear Outlaws:

In order to ensure that anything that carries the Outlaw brand name meets both our high standards and yours, we have a thorough beta test program for our major products that subjects them to real world conditions over and beyond our in-house testing and licensing certification.

You are always welcome to join the roster of potential beta testers by filling out our beta application form. However, with beta testing to begin shortly for our forthcoming Model 975 surround processor and a number of other new products, this is a good time to update your beta test listing or add your name to the list if it isn’t already there. In particular we want to make certain that the testers have the widest possible range of the latest set-top boxes including cable and satellite receivers, add-on “OTT” and “streaming services” products from Roku, Boxee, AppleTV, Sony, LG or any of the new GoogleTV products now reaching the market.

In addition, if you’ve changed your system in recent months with a new 3D display, Blu ray player, video game or other source, this is the time to let us know if you’d like to be considered as a tester to run them through their paces with one of our new products. Don’t forget the rest of your system, as well. If your processor, amplifier or speakers have changed, please complete a new beta tester profile.

To be considered for participation in the forthcoming tests, please send an e-mail to betalist@outlawaudio.com with the following information:
  • The make and model of either your surround processor or AVR. If you use your AVR as the front-end to feed an external amplifier, please note that.
  • The make and model of your power amplifier, if used.
  • The method of connection between your processor or receiver and the amplifier. Do you use conventional or balanced cables?
  • The make and model of the main channel speakers in your system, including all front, center and surround speakers, also including both surround and surround back speakers in a 7.1 system.
  • The make and model of your subwoofer(s), letting us know if you have more than one sub in the room.
  • A list of all of your sources along with a note to indicate how they are connected to your processor or AV receiver (HDMI? Component? Composite?). If any of the sources are connected directly to the video display, bypassing the video switching and processing in the SSP or AVR, let us know that, as well. Don’t forget to list any “occasional use” products that you connect through a processor or AVR such as phones, tablets, digital still cameras or camcorders.
  • The make and model of your video display. To save us from having to look up every model, it would be appreciated if you could indicate the size, display technology (LCD, LED illuminated LCD, plasma, CRT, DLP, LCoS) and display type (direct view, rear projection or front projection)
  • An approximate guess at the dimensions of the listening room so that we may calculate the cubic feet.
  • Your name, address, e-mail, and a daytime phone number so that we may contact you if you are selected.
If you have more than one system, feel free to let us know, as we know that many of you have systems in bedrooms and elsewhere in the house beyond a main home theater system.

We are also aware that many of you may be on vacation at this time of year, so please let us know if you are NOT available for testing during August as one of these tests will take place very soon. If you are selected as a tester we’ll ask for your general opinions on the product, to describe any problems or issues that you encounter, and to answer some specific questions we may ask about specific test conditions.

For more info on our Beta Test process, click here for the full details. As with our previous tests, this test will be conducted under a Non-Disclosure Agreement, or “NDA”, so unfortunately you won’t be able to talk about what you’re testing until the product is released for production. The same confidentiality works on our side, as well. We won’t be disclosing what is being tested (or by whom).

Some additional information for those who have not previously signed up as an Outlaw beta tester:
  • It’s fine if you don’t own any Outlaw products. All audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts are welcome to apply for this beta test.
  • All testers will be required to sign a non-disclosure and waiver agreement prior to the start of the test.
  • All information you provide to us for this list will be held as confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of Outlaw Audio, LLC other than as might be required to comply with any applicable law or court order. (Obviously, we don’t anticipate any of that, but we do want you to know that we take the matter of your private information VERY seriously.)
  • Since the testing may be done with pre-production units, safety regulations prevent us from allowing testers to keep the test units. However, as our way of saying thanks for investing your valuable time and energy, all testers will have the opportunity to purchase a new, production version of the product that will have full NRTL approvals at 50% off retail once it is released.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As mentioned above, to apply for this test, send the information requested above to betalist@outlawaudio.com. We’ll review all the applications and notify those selected for the test. Please do not call or e-mail asking if you have been selected, as participants will be contacted directly by phone or e-mail.

Remember, whether it is one of our current products or helping with the tests to bring out a new classic, at Outlaw Audio, “The best values in Home Theater are just a mouse click away™”.

Regards

The Outlaws
