Hello all. I have recently developed a problem where the outlaw will not recognize the mic when performing auto setup. Every once in a while I can get it to work but most of the time I get an error message saying that either the mic is unplugged or the speaker is not connected. Is this a problem with the mic or the 990? I have even held the mic right in front of the speaker and I still get the error message. Any ideas? Thanks, Brian.

I never ran into that when I had a 990. Outlaw's support page may be able to help, though.

Look for a bad connection along the cable, including at both ends. Or it can be a bad connection at the mic jack on the 990 itself.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think it might be the cable as well. I'm hoping that it is not the input jack because I believe my warranty is up and from the few pictures I have seen of the 990's insides, it doesn't look very easy to get a soldering iron in there. What are the chances of just purchasing a new mic from outlaw? Brian

I tried to get a new mic from them as I misplaced mine somewhere. No luck. They steered me towards Sherwood but they are also out of stock. I actually used my Audyssey mic from my Onkyo and the results for distance and DB were accurate according to my meter. Tried looking on the net for a replacement but all were too $$$. The Radioshack meter was cheaper than a new mic.
