i just recently got a used outlaw 990.

I have had it hooked up a few days , honestly I don't think the person I bought it from broke it in, it looks brand new.

My question though is with source material, I used to have an adcom that when you provided a bitstream format for a video the audio portion would default to the codec like dts or something like that. does the 990 do that? I have found that the default usually sounds best or did with my adcom.

Just curious really, I may not have worded the question entirely correct.

Read the manual available online in the products page. Not sure if I got you but the 990 does not do any video processing. All that will come from the source. For each source you can tell the 990 which codec to use as a default and then you can change them with the remote while watching. Realize also that the 990 does not decode any of the newer lossless formats but it does have analog inputs so the BDP can do the decoding and get it to your audio.

hey thanks, I thought I may have worded the question wrong.

I was talking about the audio portion of the program. I use an oppo 93 and when I used it in conjunction with my adcom gtp 860 if bitstream was chosen as the output, it would default to DTS or whatever codec was available from the bit stream like csi from VUDU I think it would default to dts as an example.

I get you on the remote you can assign an input a default setting like 7 channel stereo etc and then toggle between the various settings , noe 6, etc. I was just wondering if on bitstream the brain on the 990 would pick up on what is actually being transmitted. I may call support, I did the other day and they were very nice. Sometimes on forums I fail to word my question correctly because I lack some basic knowledge.

thanks for your reply
