I know that part of these questions have been answered before, but I'm not sure if the firmware update a few years ago took care of these issues.

What I am trying to do is extend the life of my 990 and my sony mega changers, so what I am considering is adding a quality outboard DAC, obviously I would want to input in analog and use the bypass mode.

The question is do I loose control of the crossovers at that point in the 990 is the crossover all in the digital domain? I wasn't sure if the firmware fix from a few years ago took care of this. I prefer the sound of my fronts set to large and the the sub set on l/f and sub. Then the setting the cross over where I like them. Can I still do this or not if I input the CD through the analog input and use the bypass mode?

I'm sure I can test this out but was hoping for a quick answer.

The crossovers in the 990 are digital (DSP-based) and not analog crossovers.
