well I have decided to order the outlaw 1050 over the H/K 320 and Marantz 5200. i know looks mean nothing, but does this receiver look as bad in person than the pictures? Damn, what is with that green button. Hey, I'll get over it - it's the sound that matters!

Yeah the Big Green Button and the Outlaw logo looks kind of cheap, but I think it actually looks alot better then those mass produced consumer electronics like sony, denon, panasonic, they all look the same... Cheap. But the Outlaw to me looks more high end similar to Nad design. I think once you get yours and see it for yourself you'll agree... or maybe not.

I think it looks better in person than in the picture. It grows on you though (or it did on me anyway).

Edit: Just making sure that came across the way I meant -- I like the way it looks now. Will send a picture of my current (small) "stack" here at some point.

When You have hooked up your 1050 and are sitting back listening to the difference in sound, the look of the receiver really won't matter anymore. I won my (outlaw) receiver in a drawing and was replacing a Sony es receiver. I was a little skeptical at first but after hearing the outlaw. I listed my Sony on ebay the next day

newtoht, to tell you the truth, I personally like the looks of the 1050. Just because it is "so" different looking than the mass production receivers.

The green button really enhances the overall product. There are some that find fault with the 1050. It really comes down to personal preference. When someone says, "That receiver looks different" than you have something that most people have not seen. This may sound odd, but there are times that I just "look" at the 1050 because it is so "different".

I agree with Pat -- I'm actually pleased with the way the Outlaw gear looks in place. The logo (which I have no problem with anyway) doesn't really show up from the listening/viewing location, and the green button has never bothered me.

gonk's 1050 and 750

One point to make. In person, it really is black. And heavy. The pictures on the site are lit weird and make it look gray. It does look much better in black.

Hey Gonk, is that an LDP I see in the middle of that stack? I knew I liked you for some reason!

Matthew, You are quite correct, the faceplate is a anodized matte black milled chunk of aluminum. The matte finish seems to tend to make it look more grey in the light of a photo flash.

Matthew's also right about the heavy part -- the 1050's very solidly built, and the 750 is downright massive.

Sorry, Pat, that's my Yamaha CD changer. I was lucky to have a VCR back when LaserDisc was king...
