Hi All:
Amazon dropped the price on Yam another $70 and they refunded me the difference. I had to ask because it is against their policy to offer post price protection but they agreed. What a deal!
Help me out here, I never hear differences in electronics but when I hooked the new Yam up tonight it hit me right away in 2 channel. The mid bass seemed to be better than my 950. The sub seemed to blend better with my mains and imaging was improved as well. Switching from the internal amps on the Yam to my Outlaw 7100 made no difference that I could detect so the missing piece is the 950. Is it possible my 950 could have degraded over time, any truth to that? I wish I could get it to work so I could really see if my ears are playing tricks on me. In any case I am real happy with the Rx-A700.

It's good to heat that you're enjoying the Yamaha. As far as the audio comparison between the Yamaha and 950. Are you utilizing the Yamaha YPAO? What was the setting on the 950 as far as EQ?
YPAO will definitely get into the guts of the settings and create an audible difference which some like and some don't. You are obviously happy with the sound which is all that matters.
There was an article/interview recently with some of the Yamaha engineers and designers discussing the Adventage line and they were pretty up front about how the goal was to focus on music and audio. From your post we can conclude that they delivered. Add to that the price and rebate you obtained and you received great value, congratulations and keep us posted on your experience.
