Yes bobm you did. Since you stated that you are planning on purchasing the 978 when it is available, it was wise not too spend a lot of money now. The advantage you will have is that if the 978 is buggy or needs to be sent back to Outlaw, you can fall back on the Yamaha and have all of the connections that you need which is something you wouldn't be able to do with the 950. 950...R.I.P.
I know I really liked the 950. it was a game changer when it came out. All us poor audiophiles could finally move into separates at a much lesser cost than the current market offerings at the time. I am not sure the same can be said about the 978 unless it comes in ~$1K
Interestingly, the Yamaha is not made in China but Malaysia. With all the talk on the forum about China I had to check this out. Is Yamaha the singer/songwriter of the AVR's, designed by Yamaha staff and built in Yamaha factories? I wonder if that is true? Hmmm, that might be a good tag line for them.
