Got a new Blu-ray player Pioneer BDP-09FD. Went to play a movie and noticed the sub was not on and neither was the center channel. I go into the config for the Bluray player and play a test tone to each channel I can hear Front Left Front Right only. Moving the cables around didn't help, it only assured me the new bluray player is working (Center on Bluray in Left channel on 990 I hear sound etc.) Is there something Im doing wrong not to hear anything? This is the first time I've ever used the 7.1 direct before so I dont have any prior knowledge if it worked right. I can go into the menu on the 990 and play test tones sucessfully to all speakers plugged in. Center channel and subwoofer also work on any other source selected. Im out of ideas.

Is your bluray player set to output to the 7 analog channels and do you have the 990 set to use 7.1 analog on the BDP input?

yes and yes, I can play a movie and only get sound from the front left and right . No center or sub. Right now Im watching a bluray on tos-link such a bummer.

Since the 990 will output to all 8 speakers I would think the BDP needs adjustment of some sort or the 990 is not "seeing" the BDP at the 7.1 analog input.

If thats true how come I can take the center channel from the BDP and plug it into the left or right channel on the 990 and it works ?

Make sure the 990 is selected to analog for the audio input used by the BDP. If that doesn't work contact Outlaw.
