Found above at my 84yrd mother in laws house. Look to be in perfect condition.Downloaded TT user manual and receiver service manual(haven't found user manual yet).I don't think they were used at all in the last 20-25 yrs! Even have a spare cartridge. Would like to set this up in our family room for 2 channel listening but currently have my 1050,dvd, hdtv TV in place. Using NHT super 1 bookshelves with outlaw M8. I'm sure this sounds crazy, but is there any way to pass the TT signal from the receiver to the Outlaw 1050. I notice the receiver has pre-outs for external amp, 2 tape rec, monitor. I would really like to start playing some vinyl but neither my 970 or 1050 have phone inputs. Any suggestions?
thanks Jeff

huge waste of time. Reciever seems fine, but can't get turntable to turn on or spin at all. Proably not worth any more effort.

Try downloading the service manual here:

http://www.hifi-manuals.com/Download/Dual/1219-service-manual

What type of table is it as far as the drive method? Could be a loose wire, bad circuit card broken belt or a bunch of other minor stuff. Make sure the motor is getting power and is free to spin. Some TT have a driver wheel under the platter which can wear out over time. Make sure it isn't in some sort of transport condition where the platter is physically restricted from movement for shipping.

You need a phono stage, a preamp that you can plug into the Aux inputs on the 1050. I have a Gram Amp2, which works very well, but there are many on the market.

was going to toss TT, but at last second flipped over and started playing with "things". Figured out how to get turntable to spin and got the on off swithch working. Replaced the rca cables. hooked up from tape monitor out on receiver to aux in on 1050. tried it and was surprised how good it sounded. didn't even try adjusting tracking, weight etc. Will do that soon. should probably lube in places noted in manual.

Good to hear you have it working. Needledoctor.com usually has parts or at least can help find them if you need some.

Xenonman, thanks for the Needledoctor info. The 1st record i tried playing was Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman and i couldn't believe how good it sounded. Had no idea what the caretridge would be like but there was no crackling or noise. Found an old box with cleaning stuff for records and reel to reel with what looks to be a spare cartridge(price was still on it $27.00 IN 1974). The TT will need some work. Can't get the switch to move from 33 to 45 for example(that doesn't bother me because i'm not real interested in hearing wife's Monkeys 45's from when she was a kid). I'm back at my mother in laws again and heading in to the basement to see if I can locate wife's old records and more importantly...find that old TEAC reel to reel to see what shape it's in.

As you can see there are some turntable fans here in the Saloon and they can give you some good advice. Another source is Audio Karma's turntable section. I've seen your model Dual discussed there before so there is probably somebody who can help guide you through a minor tuneup. I'm glad you didn't toss a vintage turntable; set up properly many vintage models beat out new tables. And, yes, vinyl can often sound amazing and better than digital. Enjoy!

You likely won't have as much luck with the reel to reel unless it has been stored in a real dry place. The brakes in the hubs tend to freeze up and mess up the speed of the tape which stretches it and breaks it.
