I find that I am not getting the "slam" bass out of my 990 that I want when I watch 5.1 movies via set top box (fios) or bluray player (7.1 analog input). Can anyone make some setting suggestions? My subwoofer is a SVS PC12plus and I am using full size sonus fabers for my front speakers. Thanks in advance.

For Blu-ray, I'd make sure you've disabled the Panasonic's bass management. The Model 990 can take care of that for you, but if the Panasonic is trying you may be getting some undesirable double bass management.

For FIOS, have you verified that the box is set to output Dolby 5.1? I've had cable boxes that sometimes downmixed to PCM stereo, which might mess with the low frequency output.

I remember some earlier forums (that I can't find) that discussed the need to up the sub output of Bluray players by about 10 dB. I use the TRIM button on my 970 remote to boost the bass output 10 dB. During intial calibration of my system using the 970 test tones I had to turn up the volume on the sub so that I could trim it down in the 970 giving me the headroom I needed to trim back up for Bluray.

what settings should I increase to get more slam out of my SVS? Sub volume? Bass increase on the tone controls? Volume on sub? I do not want a muddy sound.
