Any help here would be great. I have a multi-channel HT set-up using Carver amps for all channels. Carver A500x for fronts and TFM15cb for surrounds and one for center channel (set to mono). Controlling everything is an Outlaw 990. I have never felt the need to upgrade the amps becuase they have performed without problem for over 12 years. Recently one of the TFM's started acting up. I'm thinking it may be time to upgrade. My original thought was to get an Emotiva XPA-3 to use for center and surrounds and keep my A500x for L & R. Those amps look like beasts but I was a little turned off by the built oversees issue. My other option would be three Outlaw mono's. Opinions and thoughts would be welcome.

It's more than just "made in the USA", though to many that is important. I've had both an XPA and a 7125. I'll take the Outlaw any day for performance and sound quality.

Take a look inside any of the "7xxx" series Outlaw amps and you'll see where the beast really lives!

One option would be to get a 7500 to handle all five channels, sell two amps, and keep one stereo amp for zone 2. If you don't need 200W per channel, you could get a 7125 to do everything and sell the working Carvers you don't need. In both cases, selling the Carvers on Audiogon could help pay for the new amp.

If you are turned off by amps built overseas then the 2200 will not fill the bill either.
They are made in Taiwan.

I know this is an old post, but I just saw it and had to comment. I have an Outlaw 990/7700 in my living room and a Emotiva MMC1/IPS-1 combo in my bedroom. There is NO comparison between the two, the Outlaw not only sounds much better it is built much better. I don't understand why so many people say the Emo's are as good as the Outlaws as the difference in sound quality to me was profound. I use my Outlaw setup more often and it has never given me a single problem. The IPS-1 Emo Amp has given me a couple of problems, the IEC connector pulls out the back of the Amp when you remove the power cord and the 12V trigger module in the Amp is also hosed - it's connection is very loose inside so my Amp shuts down at the slightest movement of the rack.

I know Emotiva has a new line of X-amps out now and this is an older model, but unless their build quality has REALLY improved I would not say they were even in the same class as Outlaw. The Emo Amp does sound good, the processor does not come close to the sound quality of the Outlaw 990 though.

I now get some large discount on any future Emotiva processors & amps because I am a previous customer and I am upgrading my HT this year, but it will be with the Outlaw processor not the Emo!

My experience has been slightly different than ZoFo's. In 2002 I purchased the 950/770 combo. Nothing but praise for the 770, very high quality build and not 1 seconds problem. The 950 not so much, very finicky from the beginning and only lasted about 6 years before dying. I was very disappointed that a $900 processor only lasted that long so I really questioned the build quality. Decided to buy an Emotiva MMC-1, no problems in the past 3 years, build quality was way up from the 950, sound quality also seemed to improve, price was way less than the 950.
If the 770 died today I would replace with the Outlaw 7700, great product. Never owned an Emotiva amp so no opinion.
If the MMC-1 died today I would purchase another one used, I like it that much.

The MMC-1 was a re-badged and somewhat scaled-down Sunfire processor with a two-port HDMI video switch built in. Solid platform, well regarded. Odd that you had so much trouble with the Model 950, though - I'm sorry to hear that.

So far my Emo amp has been solid, not one complaint.
