I'm hoping someone on here still knows and responds to questions regarding the 990. To make a long story shorter I want to try using my 990 without a sub but with extremely large front speakers (Cerwin Vega D-9 15"). I currently have my setup sounding great using smaller speakers and I have my 990 set to "small" for L/R, small for center and subwoofer is at LFE only. I have the crossover set now to 60hz. What I'm hoping can be done is have the sub audio track on 5.1 material go to my large mains, I did read the bass management matrix and I think if I simply set my front L/R to large and choose sub "none" I'll get what I'm looking for but I'm not sure and hoped someone here could steer me correctly. I'm also in the dark about what "Sm Speaker Bass" means when looking at the bass management matrix page.
Just to recap, I'm looking to have the bass that would normally go to my subwoofer simply play through my huge main left and right speakers.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

By Jove I think you've got it. Should work just the way you want.

Just to recap, I'm looking to have the bass that would normally go to my subwoofer simply play through my huge main left and right speakers. Setting the fronts to "large" and the sub to "none" will accomplish exactly that. I'm also in the dark about what "Sm Speaker Bass" means when looking at the bass management matrix page. That means that the subwoofer is getting bass redirected from speakers that are set to "small" - with the bass determined by the crossover point(s) set for those small speakers.

Thanks gonk and xenon, now I can be sure of what's going on. I haven't visited the forum in a long time, actually since I got my 990 years ago and initially wired it up. I believe then gonk also answered some of my questions, truly invaluable to have someone this helpful. The reason I had these questions is I'm moving to a larger house so I'm redoing things, other than that the 990 has been great to me, I love the sound and really can't see changing it unless I really wanted to have hdmi ports. Now if only there was a cerwin vega forum as good as this one Appreciatively, Rob
