Hi guys

Just received my new 7500 and it sounds pretty good, plenty of power. When I intially turn the amp on it takes about 25 seconds for the amp to actually come on. Is this normal? Im using a onkyo 885 pre-amp and sony EP9ES for ht bypass and didnt have this problem with my B&K 200.7 amp.

Thanks in advance for any Help

PS The amp has a slight hum

My 7500 does the same thing for the first 30 seconds or so. It puts out sound before that but the blue light only comes on after 30 seconds. Outlaw says it is a normal startup sequence. Is the hum from the amp or from a ground loop? I have mine powered by an APC H-15 power conditioner and it is dead quiet. It probably does not need the power conditioner but the absence of the ground loop possibility is great.

Thanks for the response. I have a monster powercenter 3500, which the amp is plugged in the swiched outlet of the powercenter. The hum I hear is only when I'm by the amp. I might try powering up the amp thru my preamp 12 volt switch. Might give outlaw support a call

The amp sounds very good, not as smooth as the B&K a little more in your face. For the price, the 7500 is hard to beat.

About 2 years ago I had an xpa-5 and compared it to the m2200's and imo the xpa-5 sounded brighter.

Look in the 7500 forum threads as I seem to remember some posts about vibration in the case causing some humming sounds.

I am also a new owner of the 7500. I have no ground hum or buzz. My setup is dead silent. Only thing is that unless my receiver is turned on, the amp by itself causes a noisy hum. When the receiver is on and the timer "clicks" on, the Outlaw and everything else is dead silent. I have a Monster 3600 powercenter. Should I hook a ground wire between the Outlaw and the Monster powercenter? The powercenter also has a ground hookup.

Thanks

P.S. I love my new amplifier. It's huge and very detailed in sound. Makes my Onkyo 906 dull by comparison.

If you're not having problems with the system in it's current configuration I wouldn't add the ground strap. You might actually create a ground loop and degrade the performance of your system.

I've had my 7700 for about two months now, and it does the same thing -- takes about 25 seconds to power up and change the red light to blue. Seems perfectly normal to me.

No issues with humming. LOVE the sound -- so crisp and detailed, I easily hear distinctive raindrops falling around me when I'm in the main lobby of Halo: Reach, played in 6.1 Dolby PLIIx Game mode via HDMI.

The startup routine is normal. I have had the 7500 for a year or so and it is always the same. Triggers on and then about 30 seconds later the blue light comes on. Mine has always been dead silent on all fronts. Is the hum coming from your speakers or from the amp itself? If the speakers are quiet I would not make any ground connections as indicated above. Check to see if it is the amp case. There are previous threads talking about that issue but I don't know what the resolution is. Crank it up, burn it in and see if it goes away. If not Outlaw will fix it for you.

Thanks EEman

I am very happy with the setup. I have an Onkyo 906 AVR with what Onkyo markets as a "massive toroidal transformer." If you look at the 906's transformer and compare it to one of the 7500's transformers you will get a new lesson on what is massive and what isn't.

The sound detail is very impressive compared to the AVR and the amp is lightening fast as evidenced with cannon fire scenes in "Master and Commander." Also the impressive detail with the surround information I heard in that movie as compared with what the AVR could do with the surrounds leaves me to think that all home theatre purists and lovers need to turn their AVRs into pre/pros and run an external amp for that powerfully rich and detailed sound we all crave to here.

I have recently bought connected my 7500 with a Shunyiata Research Diamondback 20amp power cord. The transients are faster and detail is sharper. Say what you will. I had a 30 trial and I did back to back tests and do notice a difference. This difference is not huge at all but worth the expense. Your power transfer off the wall is very important to such a powerful amp.

Did you consider upgrading the wall receptacle and the breaker that feeds it in the panel? Huge advantages have been reported from those changes. I myself have the advantage that my house is fed from all underground wiring which is not subject to EMI from external sources or any radio waves. I also get all of my power from ultra-accurate nuclear power generation. My 7500 has never sounded better than it does in south Florida.

Tell me more XenonMan. What kind of wall receptacle? Is it like PS Audio and the like? Also can you elaborate on the breaker?
