That may boil down to personal preference to at least some degree, I think. FireWire has been a hot topic for some people for so long now that they may strongly want to get their hands on it as soon as possible - which would serve as justification for upgrading DVD player and receiver/processor to get it. For me, the existence of an industry standard digital interface for DVD-Audio and SACD is a long overdue step that I'm glad to see finally happening, but having it available at last on a few products is not enough by itself for me to choose to start a new upgrade cycle. If I were upgrading today, I would include it as an appealing feature, but considering the small number of products implementing it so far I would be hesitant to make it a requirement.

Off topic, I just returned from vacation down in Plano,TX (I live just outside Cleveland,OH).My dad, step-mom and step-brother live there. On Wednesday the 18th I got to go to the Rangers vs. Indians game at "The Ballpark"....nice park! Similar to Jacobs field in several ways(Same architect, same opening year). Too bad the Rangers swept the Tribe though!

denon makes good players, i doubt you will see anything significant from any machine that upconverts though. significantly better than one that doesnt is what i mean.
