First, when you say that you don't see a menu, are you talking about the DVD player's menu or the Model 990's menu?

If the problem is the 990's menu, here's a quick summary of how the 990's on-screen setup menu works. It is available from composite, s-video, and component video monitor outputs. If the output to the display is component, the way the menu appears will vary depending on how the active input is connected. For composite and s-video inputs, the menu will be overlayed onto the input signal before it is transcoded to 480i component video. For a component video source, the 990 replaces the incoming video with a blank screen and draws the menu onto that, with a 480i component video output. Some HDTV's component inputs only work for either 480i or HD resolutions (not both), and so there have been cases where someone was able to get the 990's component output to work fine with HD sources but not with the setup menu. The DVI switching is separate from the analog video, and the 990's setup menu is not available via the DVI output.

If the problem is the player's menu, we need to figure out how you want to connect the player. If you want to use the 990's DVI switching, then you will not be able to see the 990's setup menu without changing the input on your TV from the DVI or HDMI input to an analog video input.
