Does anyone know of an IR or WiFi remote controlled power switch (e.g. that comes between the wall outlet and the component)? I am splitting my Zone 2 signal between inside and outside, and I do not want the trigger on my outside speaker amplifier to automatically come on when it senses a signal from Zone 2. For inside Zone 2, I have a simple manual speaker selector for my ambiance (i.e. non HiFi) speakers so I can easily control that when inside; but when outside, I don't want to have to come in (e.g., I could be dirty or wet) to either turn the outside amplifier on or off as the case may be. I want to be able to do it via a remote controlled switch, if possible.

I don't know of anything like this. Can you intercept the speaker cable outside and put a volume control or switch of some sort there to "mute" and "unmute" the speaker without going inside?

Gonk, thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it. The only problems that I see are (i) I have 4 speaker wires now (which will be uped to 8 in the future) that I need to intercept so it makes it a little more complicated, and (ii) by intercepting the speaker wires the amplifier will always be powered on as it will be receiving a signal even if the speaker is muted. In any event, I will definitely look into it.
