I have the 886 and a Sony Jukebox (400 disc jukebox) that features upconversion using HDMI, and SACD playback with analog outputs.

I currently have the 886 setup to accept the HDMI output from the Jukebox, but I also would like to use the analog output from the jukebox and input on the 886 to listen to SACD (which I honestly very seldom listen to, but I do have some discs).

Is there a way to set up the 886 to do this?

Yes, it can be done. Page 20 of Outlaw's 886 guide says the following:
Quote:
Our last stop in the Input/Output Assign menu is Analog Input. This sub-menu addresses two unique analog audio connections: the multichannel analog connection, and the balanced stereo analog connection. The multichannel analog connection can be assigned to any input except the tuner. For inputs that have a digital connection assigned to them as well, the PR-SC886 will use the digital connection first but will allow the user to switch to the analog input using the AUDIO SEL button near the bottom of the remote.

I did the exact same thing with the BDP-83 and BDP-80 when beta testing them through the Onkyo 885.

BRILLIANT! Thanks Gonk.

BTW, I am the new proud owner of the Panasonic 65" S1 Plasma TV. I just got it yesterday and it looks fantastic. It is replacing a defective Sony XBR1 60".

On my SC885, the only way to activate the mch analog input is a front panel button. Can't be done from the remote. Is that still true on the 886?

Actually, you can activate the multichannel analog from the remote with the 885, and I think the procedure is identical to that on the 886 (at least the Outlaw guide for the 886 describes the same process I use with the 885). You have to assign the multichannel analog input to a specific input, then you have to be using that input, and then you can use the AUDIO SEL button on the remote to toggle between digital and analog.

Hmm. I have my old oppo 971 set up as a regular DVD player through coax, and also as a DVD-A player through the mch analog. But when I tried that, it jut went through surround mode options.

I'll have to look at it some more.

Sounds like you were hitting the listening mode buttons. There is an "AUDIO SEL" button on the very bottom row of the remote that will change from HDMI to analog.

Thanks Gonk. I'll add "gonk owed CS paycheck from Onkyo" next to the Outlaw note on my "things to do when I rule the world" list.
