I'll second Peter's sentiment. I've got a couple local friends with 990's, and both are so content with what they have that the only upgrade either is considering this year is a Blu-ray player (both are looking at the BDP-83). There will be functionality benefits tucked into the 997, but not everyone will need those enough to justify an upgrade.
