When I eventually get the 997 my 990 will go to the HT I am slowly setting up in my Mom's basement.

I will replace the 950 in the bedroom with the 990. Then sell the 950.

Sell it for $100 to my brother.....

Sold it many many months ago so not to get killed on the inevitable low resale price by the time the 997 makes its way into peoples homes.

If my system didn't already outgrow the 990 the fact that there will be no balanced inputs on the 997 was a deal breaker for me anyway.

Yeah, same here. I'll give it to my folks when I upgrade. I can't be bothered trying to pack the darned thing up and make it presentable for an Ebay sale or whatever.

Ritz2, greetings neighbor. Might you like to drop by for a drink one day and check out each others' systems? I am fairly new to this audiophile gig and don't really know anyone locally into it. Plus, I would like to see what someone "in the know" thinks of my system (objectively) as I really do not have anything to which to compare it. And so far, only neophytes like me have heard it; and from our unrefined/uninitiated perspectives we all think it sounds really good. But, relyin on these opinions is kind of like someone who has never seen a baseball game thinking that the T ball players are incredibly talented and have no exposure to what professional players can do.

The 990 would make a great A/V switcher/phono stage , but I'm afraid it will probably share the same remote codes as the 997. this would limit the ability to use the two togeather.

I will swap out my 990 with a new 997, hooking it up to the great 770 amp that I have in that room. Then take the 990 into the den to replace the 970, hooking it to the 7125 in there. And then probably give the 970 to a friend who needs a bit of an upgrade. That's what I did with the 950 that I had originally.

I have never really liked the 970, it just has too many quirky issues that arise with no pattern to them at all. I was very annoyed with the almost 3 second delay it took for the 950 to lock into an audio signal, but I think overall I was much more satisfied with the 950 than the 970. I have been, however, very pleased with the 990. But I may have problems getting it to fit in the TV stand that presently holds the 970/7125 combo. Unfortunately I think that it is a bit too tall, and I don't wish to replace the stand. I'll probably have to elimnate the shelf and figure a way to do some stacking and still get good air flow. There just isn't any room to put an AV stand in the niche with the TV and tower speakers. Oh, if only all of my problems had such a great upside.
