Floor or ceiling really doesn't make much difference as long as there aren't undesirable first reflection issues from either surface (that's why I earlier recommended getting the speaker off the floor.) Tilting the speaker toward the listening position should deal with that issue effectively enough.

I've had both situations. My current center channel speaker is a little bigger than I cared to hang from the ceiling (too lazy) so I have it below the screen.

The ceiling advantage is that the piece isn't underfoot where children or pets can get to it. Fortunately, I only have a cat and I can slap her away from the speaker once in awhile without children's services showing up to cart me away to jail. ;-)
