I just read the article in S&V concerning the LCF and something struck my interest. The toggle switch that adjusts plus or minus 2db is a concept I was seen before. I have a pair of the original Advent speakers, circa, 1970s. It also has a toggle switch to adjust the high frequency and calls it normal, extended and decrease. So, is the LCR switch a knock off of this concept?

That switch was also provided on the Bookshelf, and in both cases it is included as a way to compensnate for rooms that are particularly "bright" (lots of hard, reflective surfaces) or "soft" (lots of absorptive surfaces). Outlaw didn't invent the idea, certainly, but it's not something that you see very often.

Indeed. Even the boundary compensation switch was one that AR pioneered way back in the early 70s. It's funny how this idea kind of fell out of favor and has now taken on new life with the differing placement needs of home theater speakers.
