Outlaw 1050 Dynaco ST-70 (classic tubes) Bottlehead Foreplay stereo Pre (tubes) DIY towers with Scanspeak 9500/8535 drivers, these go down to 28hz -3db. Audax DIY Center Boston A40 surrounds (these are falling apart) Sony PS2 Samsung SIR S75 DTV receiver Sony 27XBR50 tv Rega Planar 3 TT, Grace 707 arm, AT cartridge Panasonic RV30 DVD Canare 4S11 speaker cable w cardas bananas in front Radio Shack flat 16ga going to the rear. Outlaw PCA cables Other assorted ICs, AR, Monster, RS... SVS CS20-39 sub, Parts express 250 w sub amp. Creek 4240 integrated, being used for the phono section. Sort of a waste of a good amp. Sony 1st generation portable CD player. Radio Shack 15-1994 remote. It controls everything, except the tubes which don't have remote.
The dead list: Panasonic CP72 progressive player with DCDi and DVD-A. Died in just over a year.
With all this equipment, by far the best sounding is the Foreplay/Dynaco combo driving my towers, being fed an LP. No sub, no digital, almost no silicon. It has a presence and realism that I've only heard from tubes, and these speakers can really put out the bass while keeping a very focused and detailed midrange and high end. And best of all, it didn't cost big $$$ for any of it.
