I have the 990/7700 combo, Paradigm Studio 100s and the LFM1-Plus. The sub is set to bypass with 990 crossing the 100s over at 60Hz. Unless I turn the volume on the 990 up fairly loud the auto power feature doesn't turn the sub on. If I turn the sub on manually I immediately hear sound. This happens at times when the auto-on feature hasn't yet powered the sub on. Its like the auto-on feature isn't sensitive enough. Is there a problem with just leaving the power on all the time?

The plate amp is well-behaved about energy consumption and heat generation, so leaving it on wouldn't hurt your electric bill or add excess heat to your room (which is certainly a plus in Tucson this time of year).

Hello Scalla,

You should recalibrate your sub level, but start by turning the volume on the plate amp down a notch or so. This will allow you to bring the trim control on the 990 up a little.

Best,

Scott

Not sure what that means or how I do it.

Scott is suggesting that you turn the volume down at the LFM-1 Plus's amp - the volume control is located right next to the input jack. I would suggest not going higher than 50% of max, and you could probably do OK with more like 40% - you might simply aim for setting it so that it matches the knob position in this picture . That will allow you to adjust the 990's subwoofer trim up in the channel calibration menu, increasing the signal strength and making it easier for the auto-detect to trigger on.
