I tried this combo, only last month. Missed the special. However, this combo is well priced. In terms of quality, the amp wieghs 41 pounds and does not seem to run out of power. The room I use it in serves two purposes, movie watching and recreation. My listening area for movies is 12' x 14', this is more than enough power. But I also use the 7 channel stereo mode for music to cover the rest of the area 36'x12'. Again, it is adequate. Loud enough for music. The 970 is probably the easiest processor to use (I was used to various receivers Onkyo/Marantz/Denon they were easy too, but not as easy and accomodating as the 970). I do not think that I would go back to using recievers. For Canadian buyers there is the cost of duty (almost $400), but it is well worth it.

There's a review that I mentioned in this thread a minute ago in the 970 forum. The bench tests put the 7075's output above the rated 75W even with all channels driven, and closer to 100W with one channel driven.

I was looking at the calendar (planning a few other things) and realized that August is nearly over. That means the Summer Specials end later this week. That means there are just a few more days to get free shipping on an SMS-1, free shipping on an SMS-1 and sub(s), or a 970/7075 package for $1100.

I own a brand new 970/7075 combo. I have it somewhat 'set-up' but I can't get an OSD.
Anyone know what I should do?

To quote the Owner's Manual, "You may also view the OSD using the component video output, but the picture may blank temporarily when you activate the menu system".

I'm curious as to if the combo is buggy or not.
While I like the Outlaw sound (have an old 1050 that is pretty much dead) I must admit that the bugginess of the 1050 makes me want to throw it out and shoot it from time to time. From the 1070 forum it seems that it is even buggier.
I bought a cheapy Denon to tide me over (don't like the sound much at all) and its time to get great sound again. However, I won't stand for a buggy piece of hardware this time.
This forum is still small so I may just have to wait for a bit of time to see how it is.

The 970 is a little "buggy" with no real pattern except the aquistion of a digital signal. However, it is usually rectified by simply turning it off and then on again. Mine went months with no "bugginess", then in the last few weeks I've had to turn it off a few times. Other than this quirk, I still enjoy the unit. Music sounds great and the amp was very good (I upgraded because of different speakers). The amp was very good when I had other speakers, but lacked only when using the Axiom M80 (despite the high "efficiency" they Do need a lot of power). So to answer the original question, no the combo is not "buggy" but the 970 has its quirks. In retrospect, I should have bought the 990. But I was concerned about the service and possibly getting ripped off. Now, most of my purchases are from internet direct companies. Overall, I still enjoy my 970 quirks and all. I am probably going to use it as a two channel preamp in another room when the next-gen processor comes out, as I mentioned, for music it sounds great.
