Has anyone here purchased a 7500 from Canada?

I'm curious to know what the customs import duty is. I bought a 2200 last spring, and the duty was over 100 bucks. I'm hoping the duties on the 7500 will not be as proportionally large, since it is manufactured in the USA and should be covered under NAFTA.

Thanks.

There are no duties on the 7500 as it is US built. You will have to pay PST/GST and a brokerage fee just for them to tell you it is duty free.

Cool... thanks.

How much is the brokerage fee?

I recall it being about 10-12% for them to confirm that it is "duty free".

I recently imported a 990 processor. Outlaw's shipping charges were about 50% more than the shopping cart indicated. Outlaw will only ship via UPS javascript:void(0)
Frown. UPS charged me $65.68 brokerage fee, GST extra. There was no duty, even though the unit is made in China.

UPS brokerage fees are published at http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html
Interesting to note that they charged me too much, so I have asked for a refund. Note that the premium delivery services include brokerage fees, so if I order a 7500, I will see if the expedited service with free brokerage is cheaper than regular service with brokerage.

OK, some more info. The brokerage fee listed on the UPS website is not what you will pay. UPS adds a few more minor charges for things like collecting the money, signing the form, and GST on their fees. I checked into the premium shipping services which include brokerage and they are way too expensive.

I concur with Mike McF. I imported the 990/7500 combo. The brokerage fees are based on the value of the product including PST & GST.

Regards,
Mike

After reading this post in regards to the gouging by UPS, did Outlaw change couriers? The subwoofer promotion makes reference to Federal Express.

Both my 990 and 7500 were shipped via UPS.
