I listened to my 990/7700 successfully all day. Tonight I attempted to plug in my new surround speakers to my 7700 and no sound comes out at all. I'm stumped. I turned off the 990 and the 7700 at the rear and plugged in the banana plugs at the rear of the 7700 for sr and sl. The r and l were already plugged in and worked fine. Now, nothing works. The only thing that has some sound is the sub, which is plugged into the 990. The red light on the 7700 usually turns blue and now it simply remains red. I tried turning it off and on 5 times, but nothing changes. When I push the power button on the front, the switch doesn't engage. Please help.

I will unplug the trigger cable from both ends and reinsert it. I spliced the brand new 12 gage wire and put 8 banana plugs on each of their respective ends and I was very careful to make sure that everything was connected properly. If the amp did go into protection mode because a speaker cable shorted itself somewhere, is there a way to remedy the situation?

A call to Outlaw tomorrow could probably shed some light on the issue, but I'd start by unhooking all the speaker cables from the amp, flipping the main power switch off and back on, and trying to turn it back on. According to the manual, it should come back on once the problem condition is removed. If it does, you can shut it back off and start adding speaker connections one at a time (hook up one speaker, turn amp on, turn amp off, hook up next speaker) - if there is a problem with a cable, you'll know which by the cable that causes the amp to go back into protection mode.

Thanks Gonk. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow. I did receive the following email from Steve at Outlaw at 9:00 pm.
Hello Aaron,
Remove the trigger cable between the 990 and 7700, the problem is most likely due to a trigger that is out of sync. This is usually caused by the amp or the pre-amp being plugged into a switched AC outlet but can also be caused by a very brief voltage drop at the outlet. With the trigger removed the system should produce sound. The amp's front power button should change state from red to blue, if not you may have tripped the amp's circuit breaker which is also the rear panel master power switch. Switch it off and then on from the rear panel to reset it and then try the front panel switch. Use the test tones or FM tuner to confirm output with no trigger in place. If the system plays, power if off and replace the trigger cable. It should work normally again, if not it's most likely a faulty cable. Please re-open this ticket if you need further assistance.
Thanks and Regards,
Steve

Hello Gonk - I pulled out the trigger and it worked. I think that before I plug in the trigger again, I'm going to get a dedicated 20 amp circuit so that there is less of a possibility of any drop in voltage from the outlet. Thanks again.
