Most amps that offer balanced inputs also offer unbalanced inputs, and while they typically include some way to manually identify which input to use (such as the toggle switches for each channel of the 7700) Outlaw still recommends not running both unbalanced and balanced interconnects between a single channel of the processor and the amplifier. In your system, for example, running the unbalanced front outputs to the SA amp and the balanced front outputs to the 7700 is different than running both balanced and unbalanced to the 7700. The first approach is fine, while the second isn't so desirable.

That's going to be one heck of an "office" system, by the way. smile It should be a lot of fun once all the pieces arrive and get hooked up.

My 10 year old just taught me what a gonk droid is - http://www.officialpix.com/estore/prodimages/photos/SW-1640-P.jpg and cvinfig, I think I am beginning to understand...finally. I will let you know the results tomorrow. Thank you very much.

That's a gonk droid, alright - and my old college PC was similar looking (giant tower) and so earned the name "gonk" which I borrowed as a forum login at another site in the late 90's. Let us know how it goes!

I hooked up the 990 to the 7700 today and everything is beautiful. I ran to Radioshack to buy an extra trigger cable so that I could connect my SA amp in addition to the 7700. The 7700 trigger is working as it should, but the SA amp is not working. I read the instruction manual for the SA amp, but I'm stumped. I don't know why the SA amp will not power up. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Things to check: "Trigger 2" is set to on for the 990's inputs (done for each input under the 990's "INPUT CONFIG" menu), the SA amp's main power switch is on, and the SA amp's "Off/Auto/On" switch on the front panel is set to "Off" so the trigger will control it.

It also appears that you can use the "Auto" setting on the SA amp with no trigger cable at all and the amp will come on whenever it senses a signal, much like typical powered subs operate.

gonk - Thanks very much. I will let you know what happens when I get in the office tomorrow. I must say, your response time is better than Anthony Gallo Acoustics. I emailed them twice and called them prior to emailing The Outlaw Saloon. As always, your response is lightning fast. Thanks again.

Follow up. I just got a call from Bill Fried of Anthony Gallo Acoustics and he said exactly what gonk said. That since the SA amp doesn't draw that much power, I should simply leave it in auto mode or on all the time as it sounds best after it is on for 45 minutes.

Sounds like you've got a solution in place - I look forward to hearing how the system sounds once you get it all up and running.

Gonk - I went into the office today and configured the 990 to switch the trigger 2 from off to on and voila, it worked. Now both the 7700 and the S.A. Amp are both turning on when I turn on the 990. I know it seems trivial, but I love pressing one button rather than three. Thanks again.

That really does seem like the most efficient solution - glad you got it working!
