Anyone have links to published reviews from professional reviewers from magazines or web sites? I couldn't find any.
Also, how long have these amps been available from Outlaw?

The 7700 and 7500 started shipping early this year (the manuals were posted January 19 and shipping didn't start until February I believe). It's entirely possible that some professional reviewers have samples in their hands or that they have reviews being written or already written and waiting for publication, but so far I haven't seen any show up yet. Now, if you look back at the 7500 and 7700's predecessors (the 755 , 770 , and even the original 750) or even their little brothers (the 7125 , discontinued 7100 , and the 7075 ), you can find an abundance of reviews that can give you a feel for how Outlaw makes multichannel amps. The 770 and 755 in particular would be good examples.

I've checked out most of the reviews on the other amps already. Was hoping the 7500 and 7700 had been reviewed by now, but as you say perhaps soon there will be some published. I had read your review with great interest about how the audio quality had increased detail and clarity compared to your Model 200 monoblocks. How about imaging and soundfield? Do you have any observations about this for 2 channel music listening as compared to your 200 & 770 amps?

I had a chat on Friday with Steve from Outlaw discussing the 7500/7700 amps. I knew the inputs were bal and unbal, but I hadn't realized that the outputs are also differential as well. Steve cautioned that downstream attenuators and switchers could not be connected to the outputs for obvious reasons of shorting the -ve terminal which is not a common ground. Were the 750, 755 amps a single ended output or balanced? I think they were single ended from the info I read.

In closing, balanced outputs are not too common a feature to find on amps the price of the outlaws so I am curious what the pro reviews have to say about these 2 amps?

Imaging and soundstage both seem to have benefitted (imaging moreso, if I had to try to pin it down), but it is nothing drastic.

I added a Bryston 4B SST-C to my system. Now the 7500 runs the Center (ML Cinema i) and the 4 surrounds. The Bryston handles my Martin Logan Vantages.

While the Outlaw was better than OK with the ML Vantage speakers-esp with transients, the Bryston has a smoother sound when listening to clasical music piano and sorts out complex multiple instrument passages much better (quartets etc) when listening in a stereo setup. The soundstage seems a better as well.


The 7.1 system sounds very very good for video and the 2 side speakers that are now on the Outlaw (from a 25 year old Hafler) are doing better in terms of ambience and transients.

The Bryston has more power, a factor of 10 better distortion specs, and may handle the complex impedance load of the Vantages better. All of those factors may explain the difference in to the listener.

I have made several suggestions over the years that Outlaw enter the high quality stereo amp market. I hope they do. I decided not to wait to find out if they were.
