7700-Hum replacing 755 with no Hum...why

I solved the problem. But I forgot to tell you about a problem that existed even before I had outlaw eqpt.
I have a wind-turbine which generates electricity. It is connected to the power company. It feeds and/or we draw. When production exceeds consumption the meter runs backward and we "receive credit". In fact for some months we only pay the connection charge. It does substantially reduce our bill.

I noticed the buzz before and can tell when we're really generating a lot, by going to the garage and looking at the readout. Now that I have a MONSTER in the rack I can read voltage (and amps). Usually I'm reading 122 volts. Amps of course varies, depending. When generating lots of electricity I read up to 125 volts and have independent, separate confirmation of that voltage level. Buzz is not loud but noticeable and annoying. As wind dies down and production decreases so does the buzz. At lower production levels I don't even hear it.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Also any suggestions. Thanks in advance

Is the buzz coming from within the amp, like a mechanicaly transformer buzz?
Or is it audible through the speakers?

It is audible.
Not coming from amp.
Only present when voltage goes to 124-125 v, which is when the wind turbine is reallyh kicking.

Sure would appreciate suggestions/comments/experience etc. TIA

I think you should use a mains stabilizer. They're readily available for our 230V grid, guess they must exist for your 115V too...

Thanks.
I will check it out.
Right now storming outside.
Wind around 20 mph.
Wind turbine box reading 18 kWh generation.
Voltage on Monster digital readout as high as 126 volts. And reading light gets brighter, of course. During periods of relative calm voltage runs around 121.6 volts.

BTW: We love having wind turbine. Reduces electricity cost. smile smile smile

Generally, buzz could mean 120Hz, hum 60Hz.
120Hz would mean there's a malfunctioning power supply somewhere- faulty electrolytic? bad rectifier? because there's a bad ripple on the DC somewhere...
I would also check the power waveform on a 'scope, if it deviates from a sine too much that could invoke problems.
If you ain't got one, buy one from all that money you save...

hey nfaguys:

can you give us some information on your wind turbines. How much they cost, how much power do you get, brand name, do they provide you with electricity 24/7. and so on...

I'll be glad to share the info I have, but I think this forum is not the place to do so. You could write me a PM. I'll try to write you, too to get going and give better contact info.

If there's enough interest, you guys could start a thread in The Badlands to kick around alternative energy sources like wind power. It's a pretty interesting topic that I haven't really even poked around in for a decade or so, and never in any sort of practical application like nfaguys is running.

Will follow Gonk's suggestion and start a thread in BADLANDS. I'll call it WIND TURBINE
