I'm in the market for a new VR reciever... I am seriously thinking about the 1050 but right now I can get a Yamaha 5450 for $259 on a price match from Sears.. what should I do... I like the idea of Outlaw but the price for the yamaha is just too good... HELP PLease....lol
I need to decide by tonight what to do. If i decide the yamaha i'll get it now, if the 1050 i have to wait a month or so.....

What's an extra $240 on a product that will give you enjoyment for years to come?

I would decide based on two things-1)your speakers-if theyre inexpensive(average)get the yamaha-2)is stereo performance very important to you-in other words is this your regular stereo as well as home theater.while i have never heard the outlaw and only had in store listening to yamaha products i think its safe to say the outlaw is probably far superior in stereo to the yamaha-however if you have average speakers and are using a standard cd player or changer the difference might be negligable.HOWEVER,if it was me i would buy the denon 1602,which ive seen online for about $250 and which will do a good job with stereo and includes dolby pro logic 2.

As a person with not very good speakers I would say get the outlaw (I just did). Big improvement over my old (very cheap) receiver. No, speakers still don't sound like high-end, but I plan to keep the 1050 for a while and upgrade my speakers soon. I've only had the Outlaw for about 4 hours but so far I am certainly glad I bought it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I ended up going with the Yamaha. A friend of mine works at sears and with the price match and her 15% discount, I got it for around $230..
btw. The speakers I am using in my setup are Cerwin Vega E712 (main) Cerwin Vega E-76C (center) and Dynaco Options a-25 rear.

Oh well. We can't win 'em all.
