hi all just got it, and i hit any of the input buttons and my unit will not turn on. only way is to hit standby buttn on the unit. did mute/menu reset, and power cord out, no use. I can turn my sony dvd on/off and samsung led/67/dlp on/off with remote. also I have optical from tv plugged into coax3, no matter what input button I hit, display on unit does not change and from dvd and neither does any sound. thinking this place might help soon or just send it back. thank you, thank you so much. ron in mi bigpipe55@live.com

The button labeled "PWR" is a discrete "off" command and will only place the Model 970 in standby.
To turn the Model 970 on, press any of the input buttons at the bottom of the remote control (DVD, Video 1, Tape, CD, etc.) Not only will this action power your Model 970 up, it will also set it to the input that corresponds with the source button you pressed.

Have you pressed the small "TNR" button at the top of the remote control to ensure it knows to operate the Model 970?
The top two "full" rows of buttons are the device modes that the Model 970 controller can be programmed to operate. The "TNR" button is used to select the Model 970.

stand by light is ON, I have tried all top row buttons, aux, cd, TNR etc. I have also tried the bottom buttons. Vid1, vid2 etc. the only connections I have is componet at dvd, optical at coax 1, coax 2. pre-amp outs at L,R,C,SUB,SL,SR. power in. only the dvd shows up. may try another connection in to see if the thing sees it like SVHS with stereo in. OH yes component out to the samsung 67 dlp, optical in coax2 is from the samsung 67, but it doesnt seem to see it. thanks again. i was busy over holiday and didnt get back to this until now, thanks
