I wonder - does the $200 discount for upgrading to the 997 work for those buying the 970 at the black friday discount price?? I have a tough time believing that, but then again, I don't see anything that would say otherwise....

The official deal is that any 970 or 990 owner gets the $200 discount. I don't know that Outlaw's likely to be watching the forum real closely today (what with the holiday and all), but there's been no official statement that would contradict this.

I'm at a point where I'm so close. I just looked back at a few old posts of mine on the 990 thread - I can't believe I have been shopping since late July. Looking back, I should have pulled the trigger bakc then on a 990. Now I'm feeling we are so close to the 997 release. This deal puts me out $100 upon release of the 997, but I suppose someone would get a good deal locally when that time comes and I could cover the difference. I would be fine waiting for the 997, but I've been battling the bass problems with my rr2150.

Thanks for the response gonk. I called Outlaw's # yesterday and it sounded as if they will be back on Monday, but that was their tech support line. Maybe I can get a hold of someone in sales tomorrow to confirm.

The answer is yes. If you buy a 970 for $300 on our Black Friday sale, that purchase will also entitle you to a $200 discount on the 997. A number of customers have figured this out and we are getting a flood of 970 orders today.
