Please Help: No Audio or response to inputs on 970

I just sat down to watch a movie with my family. I turn on the TV and other related stuff, but no audio. At first I thought the batteries had gone south on the remote so I changed them, but I soon realized I have bigger issues.
Here's the situation:
The Outlaw remote will turn the 970 off and on. If the 970 is off, if I choose DVD from the Outlaw input then the 970 will turn on and reflect the selected input. If I try to change from DVD to Video 1, it will do so, but the display will not reflect the change.
The volume (actually there is no audio at all or perhaps an extreme whisper) will not change either on the remote or the unit. All attempts to change anything either on the remote or directly via the unit do not change the display nor does any of them result in volume.
The video comes through fine. I have powered the unit off and on several times. I've turned off the master power switch and so far nothing.
I'm not a happy camper right now so any input or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'd try unplugging and wait about 5 minutes. Plug back in and power up and see if it works OK. That's what I've had to do with a similar issue.

OK, that didn't work. The volume btw while inaudible shows 27.5 on the screen.

Sorry it didn't work. Mine's exhibited the no audio problem on and off, but also is completely unresponsive at times like yours. I'd give Outlaw a call Monday. I sent mine back yesterday so they can check it out.

Well, after 12 hours of sleeping the 970 is now back to "normal" function, which is good. The occasional audio dropouts that many experience was and is still there, but the total freeze-up is gone thankfully. Now I don't have to buy a new receiver.
