I just got our daughter into bed and checked in at some of the usual forums, only to discover that Mark Schifter of AV123 had posted a rather surprising bit of news regarding some ongoing issues with Emotiva's LMC-1. It seems that AV123 has worked a deal with Outlaw to offer $350 trade-in toward an Model 970 for LMC-1 owners, plus a $350 credit from AV123 if buying a speaker system worth $2000 or more. This is a result of some long-standing issues surrounding the LMC-1, which AV123 helped bring to market originally but no longer sells or supports. It's a long, complicated story that has played out on several forums over the last year or two.

For any LMC-1 owners arriving here as a result of this offer, welcome to the Saloon! We've got a good crew around here. Some LMC-1 owners may recognize me from discussions on other forums regarding some of the LMC-1's issues. As a long-time member of this forum as well, I'm pretty familiar with Outlaw's products and try to help out where I can around here. In light of this unusual trade-in offer, I will be working on a FAQ to outline the similarities and differences between the two products and will try to get that posted here by some time early next week.

I have started a poll here to see how many people actually plan to take advantage of this offer...

Gonk. A wife, a kid, a day job (presumably), and you're still out saloon-hopping all night? Amazing. I'm not in the market for any of these products, but that link speaks volumes about the savvy and integrity of Outlaw, as well as the honest Net-bizzers in its circle. Very, very cool…now for Chrissakes, get some sleep.

No idea. We may never know, I suppose.

All,
Can any one imagining Denon or Yamaha doing something like AV123.com - Mark Schifter.
It is a principle 'thing'.
Pretty cool.

I've been away and missed this one.
Strange, I just looked on Emotiva's web site and the LMC-1 is still for sale. I thought this program meant they were giving up on this product (I know they have an LMC-2 in the works).

This announcement related to the fact that MLS (as the public face of AV123) was worried that his customers (the ones that bought LMC-1's through AV123 prior to some time last summer or fall) were disappointed in the ongoing problems with the product. The deal is unrelated to Emotiva, who has been out on their own for sales and support for a year or so now. Emotiva is working on both an LMC-2 and a DMC-2 (and one would suspect perhaps an MMC-2 as well), but a release date is impossible to predict (especially after the LMC-1's release date was a moving target for close to a year and a half and the LMC-1's firmware update dongle has been due to become available "shortly" since some time in April).
