I really don't use the unit that much for video switching, but I have had a problem with scrolling on composite video sources: my VCR, when in pause or stop mode; and with my Velodyne SMS-1's display.

I had a scrolling issue with my SMS-1 (the only composite device) connected to my 970.
I worked with outlaw but we were never able to resolve it, so I just plugged the SMS-1 directly into my display.
I have no video issues with my 990.

I used the same work-around, Palmer.
FWIW, I've got the SMS-1 stacked into my DVD input on my display. Though the SMS-1 is assigned to that input via composite, it gives priority to HDMI when it receives a signal.
And, thank goodness, I have not experienced any crosstalk or bleed-through issues!

Is it just for composite video? If so, I would not spend a fortune. Perhaps something like this: http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5Fid=3108&sku=28746. Beyond that, once you start getting into component and/or HDMI switching, things really go up in price.
IMHO, if it's for non-critical viewing (such as my SMS-1 display or VCR playback) don't guild the lilly.
