Sometimes the analog video output from my 970 looks horrible. The best way I can describe it is by comparing it to a solarized photograph (in case you happen to know what that effect is) or a little like a digital photo reproduced on a 16-color monitor. The contrast is extremely high, the colors tend to be shown in large monochromatic blocks, and there is no detail at all. It's just wrong.

I've had this problem for as long as I've had my 970, but it happens only in certain circumstances, which I usually seem able to avoid, so I've generally just ignored it. Does anyone recognize what I'm trying to describe or have any idea what causes it? It sometimes seems to go away after a period of time, but I'm not sure about that since 90% of my viewing is digital.

thanks for any suggestions,
Bruce

Happens with my unit as well. My solution was to route everything to my projector and just not use the 970's video switching capabilities.

I had the same problem, as was mentioned above, all video was routed directly to my display. I'm not real big on running my video through my pre/pro anyway, so for me it was a no brainer.

Yeah ... trouble is that I have two monitors - the front projector for HD, which I don't bother to use for Std. Def. sources (to save bulb life and avoid the nuisance of pulling down the screen) - and a std. def. TV for the rest. I also have two DVD players, a digital cable box, and a VCR. I can't route all that directly to the monitors - I need to go through the pre/pro to route video as I want it.
