i encoutered a problem with my 970 and my scientific atlanta 8300hd cable box. i have the 970 doing the dvi swithing and the cable box hooked up to the 970 with optical and a hdmi to dvi outlaw cable. it works fine sometimes, but sometimes i get audio, but no picture. And sometimes i get neither picture nor audio. if i reboot the cable box it seems to fix the problem, but i'm not sure what's the issue. is it a buggy 970, is it a buggy scientific atlanta 8300hd cable box, or is the hdmi to dvi cable causing the box to have a problem. at the times when i have this problem, it also seemed to effect the ps3 i have hooked up with optical and hdmi to dvi outlaw cable. you could hear the audio from the ps3 but not picture, and then one time it happened, i had no picture or audio from the ps3 and when i swithed inputs to the cable box to watch TV the same thing: no audio or picture. is it the 970? problem with the dvi switching? i installed the latest firmware. what do you guys think the problem is?

There's a good chance that this is related to HDCP handshaking (cable boxes are notoriously problematic with HDCP). I've also seen some weird behavior with my Pace cable box (confirmed by a co-worker with a similar Pace box and a Rotel processor) since a recent firmware update that appeared around the same time as the adjusted daylight savings time change. I have a feeling that the firmware update may have introduced a bug or three into the mix for boxes using the Scientific Atlanta software (which includes my Pace box).

i rebooted my cable box a couple of days ago and luckily i haven't had the problem of no picture or audio again. i guess it was the cable box. i just hope it doen't continue to happen. thanks. gonk.

I have the same problem: no picture from Scientific Atlanta to 1070 to a Sony KDS050A2000 using the HDMI/DVI cables. turning off all three does not make any difference? Any solutions? Who handles support for Scientific Atlanta: I could find no support on their site or my local cable company that allowed posting questions or even a phone number!

You won't get any help from Scientific Atlanta themselves - you'll have to go through your cable provider.
