Well I am about to make the purchase.

I am thinking of getting the 970 to replace my Sunfire Theater Grande 1. The theater grande I have works great, but has no 5.1 analog input so thus unless someone else knows something I don't I can't use SACD or DVDA. I would love to keep it, but I really am jones'n for some of the new SACD's I have seen out recently.

So should I get a B stock or a factory fresh model? Normally I am the type of fellow to buy the open box stuff at best buy, but usually only when there is a significant savings. The 970 B stock isn't even 10% off. So someone please tell me which one to get.

I just received a B Stock 990 and I can not tell any difference between new and B stock. Also, you have 30 days to try it out and if for any reason you are not satisfied, you can return it.

The B stock is going to be pretty much indistinguishable from a new unit, as Aaron points out. It also has the full warranty. If there's B stock to be had, it's a safe route to take.

You also get free shipping on B-Stock items (additional savings, specially with heavy amps)...

My 990 and 7125 are both b-stock. Neither had a single blemish and still come with a 5-year warranty.
