Hy guys, I'm new to this forum but have been a happy "outlaw" for about three months now.

I have a question regarding the 12 volt trigger and my sub. The sub is an an always on type - which to me sais that it is always drawing a current even when the 1050 is off. Seems like a waste of electricity to me.

I have been looking for a switch that connects to the sub power cord that essentially turns the sub off when the 1050 is off through the 12 volt trigger. I have had no luck.

Does anyone know if such a thing exists?

Where could I get one?

Is this worthwhile to do? (The sub owner's manual states that it draws 10 watts when no signal is present.)

FYI - its an ACI Quake sub.

If it's only a 10 watt draw at idle, leave the sub powered-up. You'll never see the cost on your utility bill and the benefit of not repeatedly powering up/down your sub amp will offset the penny or two it costs to leave it on. Most people don't realize it, but the power on/off of electronics is a major life shortening action.

Thanks for the advice okc. I haven't really done the math. But I guess 10 watts sounds like alot more than it is.

I did not think about the on/off cycling damaging equipment. Good point. On/off cycling is not good for mechanical equipment and I guess it would correlate to electonics as well.

ten watts x 24 hours x 7 days = 1.68 kWh per week. At current energy prices that comes out to something like 15 to 20 cents a week. It would be very hard to recoup an investment in even a $10 power strip at that rate.
