Just sold an Adcom GTP 740 and want to replace it with a 970. Can anyone tell me if I place an order this week will it be the latest firmware so that I won't have to update it myself. Thanks, Dave

I called and yes it is the latest firmware. I ordered on Monday the 18th and I'm waiting for shipping confirmation. Which gives me the weekend to unhook all the components from my custom made audio rack, sand it, poly it and prepare it for the upgrade. It will be complete when I can decide on a 42" plasma. I was looking at the Panasonic but the more I look the more confusing it gets. Any suggestion would be appreciated. I'll update when the 970 is hooked up.

After narrowing my choices to Panasonic, Pioneer and Hitachi, I went with the 42" Hitachi Ultravision HDTV. The picture is stunning on both HD and normal broadcasts. (The only thing I do not like about the TV is the remote.) If you haven't looked at the Hitachis yet, I would encourage you to do so. I found the picture quality as good or better than the Panny' and the Hitachi was a few bucks cheaper.
