I currently have the 1050, I love it. I am thingking about upgrading to the 970 PrePro/7075 Pwr Amp special. Is this a great upgrade , or should I wait and purchase the better 990. My room is 14 x 24. We have Cambridge soundworks speakers and a sub. Any help would be appriciated.

From all I've seen said about the 970, it seems to be very comparable to the 950 (aside from the assortment of additional features). If we use that comparison, then the move from 1050 to 970/7075 would be similar to the upgrade I made from 1050/750 to 950/750 several years ago. That was a very pleasing upgrade, both from the standpoint of features and from the standpoint of sonics. It'd be the same except moreso in your case, since I'd already switched to separates when I got my 950 and since the 970 offers several things the 950 lacked (Pro Logic IIx, more robust video switching, better bass management for the 7.1 analog input, ...). Considering the deal that they've got going, I think it's a great opportunity to make an upgrade like this.

I am also thinking of buying the 970/7075 combo special. Just wondering if this would be a little better than my RSX-1056 receiver.
