I plugged the power cord into the back of the 970, then the other end into the wall socket, then pushed in the little power button on the back, but the amber stand-by light does not illuminate. Pushing the power/stand-by button on the front does nothing, pressing the power button on the RC does nothing, and pushing the various buttons on the front panels does nothing.

Is there a fuse or breaker somewhere? Have I missed something. And, yes, the AC wall outlet is live.

If you haven't done so already, I'd recomment giving Outlaw support a call . I don't know if there's a fuse or not, but they could tell you for sure. I assume you've checked the power cord to be sure it's solidly into the 970's socket.

I checked that connection a dozen times, however, I would not be surprised if that is where the problem lies. Something about that connection just doesn't seem right - it doesn't have the typical feel when I insert the plug, and it is an odd connector as well, with rather small prongs, kind of cheap feeling.

I just called Outlaw. They are sending a new unit, which will include a pre-paid mailing label for the return. They were already aware of my issue from this forum, and were ready for my call. Good customer service!

I experienced a similar problem. I simply unplugged my unit for a couple minutes and plugged it back in. Worked like a champ. The unit preserved my settings and I was back in business. The manual does warn of possible processor crashes, and states that this is normal for this type of hardware. In all fairness, though, I did not experience this kind of problem with the Marantz a/v preamp I retired.
